MELTEM INTERMODAL TRANSPORTATION
Intermodal transportation is a logistics solution that involves the movement of goods using two or more modes of transportation without unloading or handling the goods during transit. This type of transportation combines road, sea, rail, and air transport methods, ensuring efficiency, speed, eco-friendliness, and cost-effectiveness. At Meltem International Transportation, we prefer road–sea–rail combinations to deliver efficient, rapid, environmentally friendly, and cost-advantageous logistics solutions. Since intermodal transportation allows goods to reach their final destinations without changing vehicles, it is both a secure and eco-friendly method.
ADVANTAGES OF INTERMODAL TRANSPORTATION
Goods loaded onto our trailers are transported via the Çeşme/Trieste and Pendik/Trieste Ro-Ro lines and rail routes such as Fernetti/Salzburg or Maribor/Wels. This approach ensures the benefits of intermodal transport, such as fast and secure transportation, cost advantages, environmental consciousness, and reduced impact from adverse weather conditions. Additionally, since no handling is involved, the risk of damage is minimized.
WE RESPECT NATURE
Meltem has been providing intermodal transportation services since the inception of Ro-Ro lines in Turkey. By the end of 2017, we successfully prevented:
- 10,538,505.51 kg of CO2 emissions
- 1,322,937.33 liters of fuel consumption
This CO2 reduction equates to the amount that a 1-decare forest of 400 trees can clean in 955 days.
